The Sterzing event calendar

Tuesday is an important day in the town’s weekly calendar. That’s when the “Sterzlmarkt” takes place in Sterzing’s town square. If you’re looking for local products and delicacies, you won’t leave empty-handed. The best part? The market is held right outside the door of the Schwarzer Adler, so when you’re laden down with shopping bags, you won’t have far to go!

When summer is in full swing in Sterzing, it’s time for the yoghurt days. August is filled with fascinating events all about one thing: yoghurt. The Sterzing locals are particularly proud of their creamy local speciality, whose fans can be found far beyond the borders of South Tyrol. September in Sterzing is traditionally dedicated to these round local delicacies. Savoury and sweet, large and small, filled or not, with sauce or just with butter and cheese – you’ll find the “knödel” dumpling of your dreams at the Sterzing dumpling festival in the town square. If you’re curious to try your hand at making your own “knödel”, this is the place! Just keep your hands moist and get rolling!

The bells of the Zwölferturm tower, the town church, the parish church, and throughout the town invite you to experience the Christmas market – whose official name translates to “Bell Christmas”. If you look out the window of your studio from the end of November to the first week of January, you’ll be able to marvel at the twinkling lights in the merrily decorated town square. Mulled wine and punch, hearty and sweet treats, and plenty of gift ideas are just waiting to be browsed and sampled.
